The Children’s Home provide a loving, secure shelter for about 150 male and female orphans aged 1 month to 18 years.
The children are from all over the country due to various social problems such as war, tsunami, child abuse and unbalanced family backgrounds.
The objectives of this children’s home “to ensure a better future for the low income, no income, poor and needy community of Sri Lanka, by providing service and facilitating their rehabilitation in the community”.
The management of the children’s home makes every possible effort to provide the children with all the facilities, education, health care, food and shelter they need, and above all, the love, care and safety they deserve.
The children go to a school, located yards away from the Children’s Center, which is totally dedicated to providing better education for the orphans. The Children’s Center provides vocational education for the elder children who have completed academic education in the school and various other programs to develop their skills and talents, such as arts & crafts, traditional dancing, singing, sports etc.
These children have become accustomed to foreign volunteers and grow very fond of them. They love to learn from them, to play with them, and just be around them. So this is a great opportunity for both the children at the center and the volunteers to share their ideas, talents and experiences and make new friends. Join us, volunteer in Sri Lanka with these lovely children and let’s make a better future for them.
